Do I need to be an experienced singer to benefit?
You’ll definitely find it easier on the day if you’ve sung in a choir before or you have some basic music reading skills. However, everyone is welcome, whatever their standard. If you’re not that good at reading music, we’ll pair you up with a more experienced singer to stand next to on the day. When you book your ticket, you’ll find there’s a box where you can tell us a little about yourself, if you’d like us to match you up with someone who can help you along.
Equally though, more experienced singers can benefit from the day too. All are welcome.
What's the programme for the day?
Timings may vary slightly on the day, but will be roughly as follows:
13:00 – Welcome, introductions
13:30 – Warm up, vocal exercises, first piece
15:00 – Break
15:30 – Second and third pieces
16:50 – Break
17:00 – Performance then farewell 🙁
Can children attend?
We’re afraid that for health and safety / safeguarding reasons, we cannot accept under 18s at our event. Exceptions may be made for 16 and 17 year olds, however, if their parent or guardian is also attending the workshop.
What about parking?
There is a small car park immediately opposite Cosy Hall, and another one a little further along Water Lane (Victoria Park car park). These car parks are free of charge. Any of the other public car parks in Newport are also only a short walk away. Please note that the car park next to the Swan pub is a private car park belonging to the pub and charges for parking.
Is the venue wheelchair-accessible?
Yes, we will be holding the event on the first floor of Cosy Hall, but there is step-free access via a lift.
Is there a dress code?
No! Wear whatever you like, within reason 🙂
Will you be running any more of these events?
Definitely! Watch this space.
